Wedding cakes
Things to consider when selecting your wedding cake.»
To help choose the perfect cake, tell your cake designer the details of
your wedding, such as theme, time of day, season or if it will be held
inside or outside.
» Icing, border and flower
colors can be customized to match your wedding colors. You may want to
bring a fabric swatch of your wedding colors to help choose the best
colors for your cake. Ask your cake designer about other color options. » Ask your cake designer about different cake icings, frostings and layer flavors available. » Clear pillars separating the cake tiers can be filled with colored icing to coordinate with your cake and wedding colors. » Increase the number of servings by adding coordinating sheet cakes to your order. » Ask about the selection of wedding ornaments available to coordinate with your cake. » Ask your cake designer about any extra charges, such as for delivery or accessories. » A
groom's cake that express your fiance's special interest can be
selected. The groom's cake is traditionally darker (usually chocolate)
than the wedding cake and is usually cut up and sent home with the
guests or served at the rehearsal dinner. » Your
cake table should include: two plates, two forks, two napkins, a glass
of warm water, an extra towel to wipe off the knife and a plate or tray
for the decorartions as they are removed from the cake. » Make
wedding photographs memorable by adding special touches to your cake
table with rose petals, candles, tealights, fruits, family photographs,
special items from the parents' or gradparents' weddings, your toasting
glasses or floral arrangements from the bridal party. Dress up the
table with elegant fabrics, such as organza, tulle, print fabric or
heirloom linen. » Do not forget serving accessories such as decorative knife and cake server. » Based on serving size of 1" x 2", three tiers will serve 50 to 100 guests. You may need five layers for 200 guests or more. Sheet cakes may also be used for additional servings. » The
top tier of the wedding cake may be frozen to enjoy on your first
anniversary. For that reason, we have provided the number of servings
with and without the top tier in the catalogue. If you choose to freeze
the top layer of your cake, here are some helpful hints: 1) remove any sugar flowers and set them aside 2) wrap the cake in several layers of plastic wrap (do not use aluminium foil) 3) seal the wrapped cake in an airtight bag and store in the coldest part of the freezer.
